Stroke
What is a Stroke?
A stroke happens when blood stops flowing to any part of your brain, damaging brain cells. The effects of a stroke depend on the part of the brain that was damaged, and the amount of damage done.
A mini-stroke or TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) is when the blood flow to your brain is slowed or stopped temporarily. It causes the same symptoms as a stroke but they usually resolve within minutes to hours. Mini-strokes are an important sign that a more serious stroke can happen soon. It is important that you seek emergency medical care if you are having any signs of stroke or mini-stroke.
